The 2nd graders had a lesson on erosion from Mystery Science. They started with boulders (brown construction paper) that turned into rocks, then into pebbles, and finally turned into sand. We also learned that there are green, blue, purple, tan, brown, gray, and black rocks, which make for a variety of colored beaches. Lastly, we learned that there are rainbow beaches in Argentina and Australia.

In North Dakota Studies, the 4th-grade class has been learning about the Louisiana Territory and how it helped North Dakota become a state. Lewis and Clark explored the land with the help of Sacagawea. The students created brochures to share important facts about this expedition.

The Elementary Students had some fun finishing up their gymnastics unit in Mr. Fray’s class. After the individual exercises, they were able to perform partner stunts. Some of them also came up with their own poses. Great Job, everyone!

The 6th Grade Social Studies class wrapped up their Ancient Egyptian Topic by having to construct a pyramid out of marshmallows and toothpicks. They had two days to plan, build, and rebuild if necessary, and then reflect on the outcome of their pyramids.

In music, the pre-k and kindergarten classes are hard at work learning their music for the Christmas program, happening tonight at 7 pm at HMB. They are alternating between singing the songs and moving around the room, trying to match the music's style. The 2nd graders are learning about vocal timbre and how all voices and instrument sounds are unique. They got to practice by playing Doggie Doggie, where they "hide" a bone from the chosen dog and have to solo sing if they have it.  The dog needs to try to figure out who is hiding the bone based on just the solo voice. The 3rd graders were introduced to 16th notes recently and have been practising using them in games such as rhythm erase, where a song gets erased one line at a time, and they need to memorise what's been erased. The 5th and 6th graders have been preparing their band songs for the Christmas concert and are excited to perform them for their friends and families. And the high school choir sang the national anthem for the Veterans Day program, and they are also starting to prepare their music for their concert on December 15th.
