The 9th grade Physical Science class wanted to go back to kindergarten since they loved it so much. 😊 They helped the kindergarteners learn why things sink or float (density) during their science time. They planned some fun, hands-on activities for the kindergarteners. Everyone enjoyed this special collaboration between classes!

The 6th graders have been working on researching a country. They found key information about the country and wrote a 5-paragraph essay. After writing the essay, they created posters representing their countries. They will display the posters in the hallway. Be sure to check them out!

The HMB Envirothon teams competed at the Lewis and Clark Regional competition on Wednesday and did a great job! Eve, Anastasia, Lelyn, Carter & Makiah placed 1st in the forestry category, and Lydia, Isabel, William & Nathan placed 1st in the wildlife category! Well done! Thank you to Emmons County Soil Conservation for sponsoring our teams.

The 5th graders have been learning about western expansion across America, North Dakota's civilization, and the importance of coal to our economy and the electricity it provides. Recently, HMB students traveled to Falkirk Mine for a field trip filled with big machines, mine landscapes, and the importance of the electricity North Dakota provides throughout the United States. The highlight for the students was when “Tour Guide Tim" took them down to a coal pit area and let them pick up and bring home their own bag of coal. A special thank you to Retha Mattern-Lignite Energy Council, Andy Buntrock, BASIN Electric, and Cindy Schlosser for providing all the lunches and snacks on the bus throughout the day. Andy and Rita also gave the kids talks during the transportation on the bus ride and took time for many questions and answers throughout the day.
