3rd Grade shared their learning about the Mayflower and the pilgrims' experiences on the ship with everyone last week. They went to the gym and measured out the dimensions of the Mayflower and the area that was allowed for the 102 passengers to live in for the two-month voyage. 3rd-grade students directed passengers and provided them with a boarding pass. 102 students and staff filled the Mayflower. If passengers were over 5 ft. tall they had to crouch because the ceiling on the Mayflower was only 5 ft. high. Thank you 3rd Grade for sharing your learning with everyone!

💛🖤 Classroom Spotlight 🖤💛
5th grade has been learning about the Early Explorers who discovered America and other parts of the world. At the end of the chapter, they chose an explorer to further research and made a PowerPoint presentation about the explorer to present to the class. Then, they made a paper plate portrait showing what their explorer looked like and summarized what they learned about him. They all did an excellent job!!

💛🖤 Classroom Spotlight 🖤💛
Third grade has certainly been a busy classroom. We wrote about our heroes and honored them with our hand flags for our upcoming Veterans Day celebration. We experienced and held our own elections in the classroom and schoolwide PK–6th Grade. We were honored with a special guest, Cindy, Quinn's grandmother, who spoke to us about being a veteran, and her military service! These students also love hands-on learning so to learn more about products from the economic industries we have been studying, we did an experiment to create dancing popcorn with special ingredients for a scientific reaction. These third graders certainly shine bright, and as one student told me, "Ms C, we have a thirst for learning!" and they certainly do!

This week, the band traveled to Aberdeen, SD, to represent HMB at the Northern State Band Festival. About 20 other schools were also there. The students were divided into 2 bands and spent the day rehearsing with their respective bands before putting on a final concert to show off all their hard work.
