💛🖤 Classroom Spotlight 🖤💛
The 2nd graders adopted a cow from Groetsch Dairy in Albany, MN. We learned so much about our calf, Lady Liberty and from Farmer Lisa! It has been fun watching her grow!

We have also been paying attention to eagles, Jackie and Shadow, and their two eaglets that hatched on April 4th and April 5th on the Big Bear Valley camera.  We have learned all about Bald Eagles and how they are an important symbol of the United States.

We did a heating, cooling, and states of matter lab in science. The main focus was on why plastic was invented and why most toys are made out of plastic vs. wood or metal. We melted candy to mimic how easy it is to melt plastic and mold it into toys. 

The ND Department of Agriculture had free kits to sign up for a few months ago! We were lucky ones to earn a Farm to School Dig 'Em Up Grow Kit! We are learning all about roots through this program. We planted radish, carrot, and kale seeds. Each day, a student turns on the plant light, and every few days, the students take turns watering. So far, the radish is growing the tallest, the carrot is just behind it, and we had to replant the kale. 

Lots of hands-on, fun learning is happening in 2nd grade!

The Juniors and Seniors attended the NHS Conference in Bismarck last weekend. They had the opportunity to listen to Joe Beckman, who talked about the importance of human connections.

The 7th graders are wrapping up their last dissections this week in Life Science. They did a phenomenal job and were very engaged. If you ask them, I think they'd say it wasn't as disgusting as they thought it would be!

The 3rd grade came to visit the 7th grade while they dissected crayfish. It was a bit loud and crazy, but fun and educational!!

💛🖤 Envirothon 🖤💛
The Envirothon teams spent a day of training at Menoken Farms for the upcoming state competition at Crystal Springs. There was a lot of hands-on learning about soils, pastures, wildlife, and aquatics.
