The 8th graders have been learning about Holland's RIASEC Career Theory in their Exploring Career Decisions class. After students discovered their top area, they began to work on projects that showcased key qualities of their interest area.
The Realistic group (people who prefer hands-on, physical activities, often in environments involving tools, machinery, or animals) drafted plans for and built a slingshot.
The Investigative group (people who enjoy solving problems, conducting research, and exploring ideas in areas like science, technology, or medicine) researched and experimented on whether cats have a dominant paw; like how humans have a dominant hand.
The Artistic group (people who are expressive and thrive in creative environments like the arts, design, and media) wrote and performed an original play.
The Social group (people who enjoy interacting with others, supporting, teaching, or providing care in fields like education, counseling, or healthcare) developed a school-wide program to promote interaction between elementary and high school students.

During science class, the 6th graders have been learning about compounds, chemical formulas, and covalent bonds. For a class project, we built molecules to help us better understand atomic structure and bonding. Marshmallows represented an atom, and toothpicks were the bonds connecting them. This was a great visual to understand how atoms bond to form molecules!
