Matt Gardner from North Dakota League of Cities was at HMB to present Emma with her award for winning the "If I Were Mayor" state essay competition in 3rd grade. Congrats again Emma!

We had an awesome time on the HMB Senior Class Trip to Rapid City the first weekend of May. We visited South Dakota's Capital building, Mount Rushmore, the Reptile Gardens, and Chapel in the Hills. Students seriously competed at Putz n Glo Black Light Mini Golf, climbed though Rushmore Cave, rode the Rushmore Mountain Coaster, tried to escape from Black Hills Escape Room, played vintage arcade games at Press Start, bought candy at the Rushmore Candy Company, enjoyed the Water Park at the hotel, wore out Door Dash employees, competed in their own Steak Off Competition in the hotel rooms and gathered at the hotel firepit in the evenings! It was a jam-packed long weekend. Mrs. Larson, Mr. Larson, and Mr. Barry would like to thank the Seniors for their exemplary behavior. You represented HMB with class! Lots of memories and laughter. Best of luck to the Class of 2025.

On April 30th, HIT Incorporated came to HMB and gave a presentation to students in grades 7-12. HIT, Inc. provides residential services to people with intellectual disabilities who have various support needs. Settings include residential homes and apartments. Living in any of the settings where HIT provides services allows for independence so life can be enjoyed, dreams realized, and personal goals obtained while being with HIT's remarkable employees. HMB alumni, Colin Wetzsteon, gave a presentation on what life is like for him. He shared stories of what high school was like and the different challenges he faced. He also explained what life is like today. The students at HMB were very attentive and appreciated the insight. Colin is the young man on the left in the picture.

The HMB 2nd Graders adopted a virtual classroom pet this year. In October, they received the news that they had officially adopted a cow! Her name is Clementine, and she is a Holstein cow. She lives on a farm in Minnesota. We connected with Farmer Lisa, and she showed us around her farm. We got monthly updates on Clementine with stats of her growth, pictures, and videos. We were able to learn all about the milking process, what products are made from dairy, the daily life of a dairy farmer, the cow's nutrition, and how quickly they grow.
