Election Day results are in! Our elementary students decided which cookie was best: Oreo or Chips Ahoy. The students all voted yesterday, and Chips Ahoy won by a very narrow margin, 43 -40. Thankfully, no recounts were required. The students got to enjoy a Chips Ahoy cookie for a snack today. 😊

Middle School Halloween Dance
Any guests (friends from out of HMB school) must also be in grades 5th-8th.

All classes got to practice warming up their voices with a falling leaves warm-up to get them ready for the changing weather. The younger students got to practice learning how to keep the beat in a song by pointing at "heart-beats" as we listened to music, they also used the bungee rope to dance to the Halloween hokey pokey with boney legs and cat paws. The older students got to help decide on the best instruments to use to add sound effects to our spooky song. They had to decide on sounds for screeching bats, falling candy, and rattling bones. The 5th and 6th graders used a crossword puzzle to help learn the notes on a musical staff, and the 8th graders are hard at work learning the ukulele.

Last weekend, some of the 6th and 7th graders got to attend Surround The State in Song in Bismarck. They got to spend the day rehearsing with other students from 17 other schools around the area, and at the end of it, they put on a fantastic performance for the community.

Mrs. Benz’s 7th-grade Exploring Career Decisions class just wrapped up its unit on the 16 Career Clusters. Students learned all about the different careers, pathways, programs, and majors that make up each cluster. They then got to pick their favorite cluster to create a poster on.

Last Friday during Tiger Time the high school classes were paired with an elementary classroom. They took some time to read and then also completed crafts together. Seeing the students share stories, laugh, and work together was wonderful. HMB students give us a lot to be proud of!

Halloween and fall have been themes in the preschool room. This week, the students have been busy exploring the letter E, triangles, magnets, and washing pumpkins. Now that the pumpkins are VERY clean, they will get to paint and weigh them.
