Emmons County Interagency is excited to host Monica Kramer McConkey, Licensed Professional Counselor, April 27 and 28 in Emmons County. She'll visit with middle school and high school students at Linton, Strasburg and HMB schools. In addition, we'll hold a parent session on the evening of April 27 at 7:30 p.m in the Linton Public School Gymnasium. If a parent or community member is unable to attend in-person, they can contact their respective school to join via Zoom.

Our kids are dealing with a multitude of stressors and pressures in their lives. Social media has only enhanced that amount of unhealthy stress. In this parent session we will take a look at what happens in our child's brain and body when they become stressed. Parents will learn about warning signs that their child may be struggling emotionally as well as how to respond. Parents will also have the opportunity to develop a personal action plan on how to improve their relationship with their child.
During the student sessions, she'll discuss living with confidence and courage. Life can be frustrating when it feels like the stress from school, sports, work, family, and friends is overwhelming. During the student sessions, students will learn what happens to them when faced with stress and how to implement positive coping strategies. They will also gain insight into what it means to live with confidence and courage when facing difficult times.
