HMB E-Sports Club

Greetings!

Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock Public School is thrilled to announce we will be offering an E-Sports Club this spring!  The club will be offered in partnership with Fenworks E-Sports, a company dedicated to working with schools to provide students the opportunity to play video games in a safe and educational online environment.  The program will be open to all interested students in Grades 6-12.  Students will participate from home, using their own gaming devices, both competitively and non-competitively with other school in North Dakota.  Since this is considered a school activity, an activity fee of $25 will be required to participate.  All other costs associated with our E-Sports Club have been paid for by the district!

Please view the Fenworks Gaming Club flyer for sign-up and other information regarding the E-sports program.  Below are more items important for students and parents/guardians:

1)  Fenworks will be conducting a host of informational sessions over the next week.  These informational sessions will be conducted on Discord and will be scheduled at the request of the schools.  Students will sign up for times via a Discord survey.

 2)  Joining the Discord – to be extra helpful, click here to view a step-by-step Discord set-up document. The document contains all the instructions needed for a student to join the Discord server on their computer or device.  As a note, some students may need to download Discord to their school-provided devices that they take home. Discord is a highly reputable program.

3)  Morning and Night Coach – upon request from schools, we are looking to add a 6:00AM - 7:30AM session and a 6:00PM – 8:00PM night session to complement our 4:00PM – 6:00PM program. Students will be requested to only attend one session and will be asked which times work for them in our Welcome Survey on Discord.  We hope this will allow more students to enjoy E-sports and play with friends.  These programs are contingent on enough students signing up for these times.

 4)  Start Date – Fenworks is looking to have the start date for HMB programs be on April 6th.  Students have been provided information already last week and have been signing up and communicating with Fenworks.   HMB is in constant communication with Fenworks to ensure a safe program.

Finally, HMB will be in a region consisting of three other schools., Hazen, Beulah, and Wilton.  The coach for our E-sports program will be provided by Fenworks.  Below is a message from our coach, Josh Bitterman and Fenworks.

“Hello, I am Josh Bitterman.  I’m the E-sports coach for the Hazen, Beulah, HMB, Wilton Region. I graduated from BSC with an Associates degree in English, after two years working on communication and written skills.  I also graduated from Hazen High School, so I’m thrilled to give back to my district and my region!  My goal here with Fenworks is to bring E-sports to as many students as possible.  Gaming is one of my biggest passions.  From consuming and learning its content, casting college games, setting up tournaments, and running E-sports.  I’m excited to get started.”

“Fenworks team members are beyond excited to begin E-sports programs across the state.  Our team is made of passionate gamers and educators who want to provide the experiences we wish we had as students.  We hope over the course of our program to provide an excellent experience for you and your students.  Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, comments, and concerns.  Our team is here to help.  Thank you!”
