School & Community Profile
HMB Public School is located in the community of Hazelton, forty-five miles southeast of Bismarck. The school district, which also includes the communities of Moffit and Braddock, covers an area of approximately 570 square miles in Emmons, Burleigh, and Kidder Counties. Our beautiful facility consists of a high school and gymnasium that opened in 1999, along with an elementary school that was built in 1964 and remodeled in 1999. We are very fortunate to have a supportive community, a dedicated teaching staff, and a wonderful group of students. Through the efforts of our community, parents, and staff, HMB has been able to buck the trend of continuous enrollment decline that has plagued rural school districts in North Dakota. An active community development group and our proximity to Bismarck have enabled us to maintain a steady enrollment over the past five years. As a school district, we're succeeding in offering a challenging educational experience in a positive environment, and we're accomplishing this while still maintaining fiscal responsibility. We hope you can take the opportunity to visit our school!
